Toronto Island

New city means new adventures, and Toronto Island was our first stop.  (I think Paddy was keen on showing me some of the natural pretty away from the huge skyscrapers that have been overwhelming me lately – and it definitely worked!)

We picked a partly cloudy Saturday for our adventure and set off in optimistically summer outfits for the ferry.  It was very quickly determined that, although the sun was brilliant and warm when it was out, there was a definite autumn chill in the wind when the clouds held sway.  So, one of our first stops after the ferry was a tourist trap to buy ourselves some sweaters.  (Somehow, buying unexpected necessities is a bit of a date tradition for us – I still have the towel I had to buy the last time we walked to the movie theatre and got drenched in a downpour!)  So, unexpected necessities purchased, we spent a brilliant and relaxing day exploring the island, which has everything from swan paddle boats and a children’s amusement park to beaches and cafes.

I of course, took a million photos.  Here are just a few.  :)

sadly, only the kiddie rides were in working order, so we weren’t able to take the swan-shaped paddle boats out for a spin … so I suppose I’ll just have to be patient until next summer!

In the sunny patches, we couldn’t resist pulling out the blanket and stealing a few moments just basking in the warmth and awesome.
