Well, it’s certainly been more than one week since we’ve discussed our little purge plan, but I imagine you can forgive us this little discretion, especially in light of the the events of the past month. May has been emotionally draining for us, but with the support of family and friends, we’re slowly getting back to normal. And you know me, a big part of my ‘normal’ is routines. So starting up our ‘one thing a week’ routine again seems like a good step.
At some point in the last month, I really don’t remember when, I brought out all of my summer clothes. I’m not the type of girl who has piles and piles of clothes; in previous apartments, all of my clothes have always been in the closet year-round. But with our limited space here, when we moved in it seemed only prudent to take the clearly summery clothes and pack them neatly under the bed for the winter. So, when the weather (finally) got warm enough, it was time to update my closet. And I found there were a lot of clothes that didn’t actually need hanger-space at all.
Maybe I was feeling a lot less sentimental than usual, or maybe it was simply time for a change. Office work clothes that have been moved 4 times without being worn, cute tops that just don’t quite fit right, old scarves and mitts, worn out pjs … Somehow it was very easy to toss out anything that I didn’t ‘want’ to wear. I’m left with some empty hangers, and perhaps a few gaps in my wardrobe, but all the clothes that I have now are ones that I really like. So bring on the beach dates and photo walks!
