saying goodbye to more things

Well, it seems that we’re always a week or so behind in reporting, but we are making the effort to pick one thing each week – I promise!

For week 7 I had to say goodbye to some old picture frames, and it was rough.  As a photographer (and a person who doesn’t get to see most of my favourite people nearly enough!) frames are both a great excuse to print more work, and just a good way to keep smiling faces close by.  But even with our desks and our new entertainment centre, there’s just not enough room for little standing frames.  So instead of taking up shelf space or collecting dust in a box while we wait for a bigger home (or more furniture for me to put frames and knick-knacks on!), they are going to the Salvation Army to hopefully hold some new smiling faces for a new owner.  For now, the photos that they housed will just have to be content with living tucked into the edges of the whiteboard over my desk.  While getting rid of frames, I also decided to toss an old Anne Geddes picture that, while it looked quite lovely decorating “Megan’s place” doesn’t really match the eclectic geeky style of “Paddy and Megan’s place”.  I love those little butterfly babies … but that thing has been following me since we first moved to Fredericton, and has never made it out of the box.

Paddy’s week 7 item was a duplicate roasting pan.  We were lucky enough to receive one as a wedding shower gift, but seeing as roasting large birds is not a regular occurrence in our house (sadly), by the time Christmas came around, we kinda forgot that a pan was already living under our stove … and Paddy went out and got another!  So, the duplicate pan is gone.  (Well, it was *going* to be gone … we’ve ended up re-purposing it to hold seedlings for our gardening adventure … but that’s another blog post!)

Week 8’s items are basically worn out things that need to be tossed.  First, my favourite pair of boots.  They’re 7 years old and are starting to show their age.  (And by “showing their age” I really mean “rebelling by making my feet completely uncomfortable whenever I try to walk anywhere in them.”)  Since I refuse to be one of those girls who’s shoes restrict their movement, the boots have got to go.  The other item that is sadly going into the garbage bin is Paddy’s UNB sweater.  Between the two of us, we’ve really worn the poor thing raw (and yes, I’ll admit, I am a bit of a hoodie thief!)  But we certainly have no shortage of hoodies in the house, so I think we can both manage to stay warm without it.

stay tuned for more de-cluttering adventures!
