With my mind rather preoccupied with family this week, it has been a little bit difficult thinking of happy baby thoughts. Perhaps the biggest thrill has been deciding on names. Since we’ve been trying for a while, names is a conversation that has happened in our house several times already, but never since we actually conceived. We had a pretty good idea for one, and a half idea for the other, but just this past week we managed to fit everything nicely together so that we know who our little one is, whether boy or girl. But we’re keeping this one a secret. I feel it’s akin to peeking at your Christmas presents before Christmas morning- it would spoil an absolutely delicious surprise. So, we will not be finding out what we’re having, and nobody gets to hear about names until we introduce you all! This is going to be an incredibly hard secret to keep, particularly when we couldn’t wait more than a day after finding out that we’re having a baby to spill the beans to everyone. But it’s certainly worth a try!
In other baby news, this week I got to meet my family doctor. It was great to start that relationship off finally, and get a better idea of what’s going to be happening the next 7 months in terms of care. Dr. Digby is a perfectly nice man and he was able to reassure me on several of my silly paranoid questions, so I’m a relaxed and happy pregnant girl: a girl who has permission to eat ranch dressing and feta, and to go on morning jogs… provided I don’t clean any cat litter. Sorry, Paddy- it definitely seems like this guy is on my side. I like him. Next’s week’s appointment will be slightly more pokey-and-proddy, so here’s to hoping these good feelings last!
